Thanks Robert for some great course planning at Gogledd Llynoedd Teifi - challenging courses and great views if you had time to take them in! Great to see everyone. Thanks to Zoe for download and to Kate, Fay, Zoe, Steve & Gabriella for collecting controls. Welcome to the Roberts family - well done on meeting the challenge of Llynoedd Teifi at your first event.
Robert has planned a local event with yellow, orange, light green and blue courses. Please note this was originally scheduled for 16th Sept but has been moved so we can attend the Welsh Championships weekend at Newborough on Anglesey 15th&16th September (This was postponed from March because of snow - yes it really was that cold in March...)
This will be held on the northern part of the area.
From B4343 at Ffair Rhos travel on side road eastwards 2 miles to OSGR771681
Registration will be from 10.00 - 11.30am
Starts will be from 10.30am - 12.00 noon
Courses will be Yellow easy for beginners 1.7 km 90m climb
Orange intermediates 2.2km 110 m climb
Light Green harder 3.8km 170m climb
Blue for experts 5.2km 210m climb
The event will be held on open hills with fantastic views in good weather. Claerddu is a great open moorland site near Teifi Pools with lots of interesting contour and rock detail. If there is mist about then the navigation can be challenging. The area is open hill, with amazing views in good weather. A further bonus is the lack of gorse, bramble or bracken. A real rarity for orienteering! Whistles will be compulsory, as will be cagoules if there is a threat of rain so please come prepared.
It is definitely sheep country and so any dogs must be under close control at ALL times.
