The Results are now sorted following the problems we had on the day - apologies for that. Grateful thanks to Sportident for their help with this. If you spot any errors then please let Bill know (via the Schools email address).

The venue for this event will be at the Carneddau, Builth Wells. The Carneddau is a beautiful hill which rises to 436m. To the west it has views overlooking the Wye valley and to the east the hills surrounding Glascwm. On a fine day you can see the Becons with Pen-y-Fan to the south and the Black Mountains to the south east. It stretches from Builth Wells in the south to Howey in the north, just about 4Kms long and 3Kms wide. It is mainly open hill top with a variety of valleys, crags, a few trees, undergrowth mainly bracken with a few corse bushes here and there. The area has an abundance of crags, depressions, line and water features, re-entrants and boulders etc. At this time of year like most open areas the bracken has not begun to grow; therefore running should be much easier.

Please note in order that sufficient maps are available would you please email Terry Smith at (terrybeval@aol.com) to let him know which course you would like to do. Cut off date for entries will be 8th May 2019.

For those competitors not entered by the 8th May, there will be spare maps on the day but on a first come basis only.

As we are in the middle of the lambing season great care must be taken especially where there are lots of sheep with lambs, so please be careful when running you do not cause them to panic especially in areas where there are large crags.

About the area/map

Carneddau

The Carneddau is a beautiful hill which rises to 436m. To the west it has views over looking the Wye valley and to the east the hills surrounding Glascwm.

Like most open areas where bracken is present it depends on what time of year competitions are held as to how easy or hard the running is. From late September where the bracken has died back to early July where new growth has only just began, running should be much easier.
