The SE facing slope is mainly forestry, some of it runnable but there are quite a few areas with heavy undergrowth, although at this time of year not as dense as it is in the summer months. The slope rises steeply from the river to the top of the ridge where you are then in open land.

The NW slope faces the Dyfi estuary where on a good day you can see Aberdovey and the coast line up to Tywyn. Once on the ridge you are in open land, which gently slopes away to the boundary fence, this provides the opportunity for those speedsters to gain some time and for the rest of us to get our breath back.
