The courses are on a lovely area of open heathland that surrounds the very picturesque Llyn Rhosgoch. The terrain varies from gentle undulation to gruellingly steep slopes, and offers fine views into the deep chasm of Nant Cwm y Graig, on its eastern side. There are also some quite dramatic rock contour features, on the western side of the area, and the ancient Carn Dolgau lies at the heart of the area. It offers some good runnability, interestiing crag and contour challenges and, of course, the ever-present bogs.
