We are in Mid Wales and it has to be said there is extensive bramble cover in places on the longer courses, so please come prepared with full leg cover and long socks/gaiters! Courses have been planned to make the most of the more runnable areas. Hope you have a right royal run as you will be stepping in the footsteps of Princes - Mathrafal was once the capital of Powys before it moved to Welshpool in 1212! Make a day of it and come and join us at the Tan House Inn SY21 0JY afterwards 01938 810056 and enjoy the inglenook fireplace and Sunday Carvery.

Geology
For those with an interest please admire as you drive into the forest on the left handside of the track the exposed siltstones of Lower Silurian (Llandovery) age which were deposited approximately 440 million years ago in an ancient sea known as the Welsh Basin. Known by geologists for almost 150 years, the locality has been an important source of many different types of fossil, in particular brachiopods (commonly known as lamp shells) and trilobites (an extinct group of animals similar in appearance to the modern-day Horseshoe Crab). The fossils collected from the locality have formed the basis for important studies into trilobites and brachiopods, and the site is considered of great importance for investigations into Lower
