It is mainly rough open common land with patches of bracken and thicket. Although the map shows areas which are undergrowth (bracken), these in some cases have been cut by the farmer and are now runnable. There are quite a few areas of sessional marsh, which currently are very boggy. The photo on our website home page shows a section of the area looking east with Castle Bank hill in the background.
Location & Directions
Directions to assembly - Traveling from the East head for Hundred House (LD1 5RT), which is on the A481. Turn on to the road signposted to Howey and continue for 4Kms to brow of hill, assembly will be on your right. All other directions head for Howey, which is on the A483, turn on to minor road signposted to Hundred House and follow for 3.5Kms until you reach the brow of the hill, assembly will be on your left.
Parking will be the common, please follow instructions given by marshals.

Yellow - 2.5km with climb of 55m
Orange - 2.7km with a climb of 100m
L.Green - 3.2km with a climb of 140m
Blue - 5.7km with a climb of 255m
Please ask if you would like any help choosing which course to do. It is best to choose an easier course to start with if you are new to orienteering. The distance is the straight line between controls on the map but the actual distance you cover will be longer depending on your route choices.
Registration is open at 10am to 11.30am

Info for dog owners
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead
There are no facilities at the venue, the nearest being either in Builth Wells or Llandrindod Wells
