Nant-yr-Arian Report 2012

Kate O'Sullivan (Novel way of collecting controls),

The sun shone all morning, and we moved the start punch so that we could at least start in the warm rays, before heading into the deep, dark forest. As well as the usual club league colour courses, there was an extra course, a Long Orange, to befit anyone who fancied a trail run without fighting too many brambles and mossy bogs. There were a total of 32 entries, with some very welcome new faces, particularly families with young children trying out the yellow course, and some keen fell runners. The longer courses had some very steep sections, which could, with cunning, be avoided, and allowed for some longer, but possibly faster, path options. Given the fantastic weather, it was difficult not to give in to the temptation of taking in the spectacular panoramas along the way. The blue course wavered within luring distance of the coffee shop for the really weak-willed....

The Yellow was won in fine style by Natasha Powell in just over 20mins, with Gwenllian Thomas hot on her heels. William Thomas made short work of the Orange course in just over 30 minutes. Daniel Thomas won the Light Green course in 42 minutes, followed by Dafydd Thomas. The Blue course was won by David Williams from HOC, in 50 minutes. Mike, Gabriella and Robert finished within a minute of each other some 14 minutes later.

Cakes were sold to raise funds for the Welsh Junior Squad, and the morning was wrapped up with a slurp in the coffee shop; many thanks to the FC for their permission to carry out this event.
