Nash Woods Review

The results of the Yvette Baker regional event were as follows:

1st BOK with an overal score of 897 points

2nd MWOC with an overal score of 885

3rd SBOC with an overal score of 486

4th SWOC with an overal score of 190

5th ERYRI with a over score of 97

SBOC, SWOC and ERYRI were not able to enter a full team, mainly due the fact of impending school exams. We will be writing to the organisers of the YBT to point out that the dates for next year should take in to consideration school exams. Therefore the heats for this competition should be either earlier of later than the current date, February or late June.

Refreshments of cake and hot drinks were kindly laid on by the Welsh Junior Squad and thanks to those who donated cakes and to Ieuan and his helpers they made £93.20.

Also a word of thanks to the planner and organiser for putting on the 6 courses. Sometimes planners do not get the recognition they deserve; planning the courses to the correct technical level, getting the distances right, putting out the controls in the correct place takes up a quite a bit of time. Having put out all the controls it is always nice to know that there are helpers available to collect them in. So a big thank you to all those people who stayed behind to collect controls.

Finally a note from the controller Robert Griffiths.

I hope that you enjoyed the event that was organised for the “Cwpan y Ddraig.”  It also doubled up as a Welsh League event.  The woods were at their best with the bluebells in splendid array.

The siting of control number 5 on the Brown course was unfortunately done at a superseded tag.  This meant that some runners wasted a considerable amount of time searching for the control.  It therefore seems only right that to avoid any disqualification or loss of time which this might have caused then the results will be adjusted to exclude this control from the course and delete the time taken from control 4 to 6 from the overall time.

I offer apologies for any problems that this might have caused.

Robert Griffiths
