Support Megan and the British Team at the World Orienteering Championships in Latvia 4-11th Aug 2018

Dear orienteers

I am writing to ask you to help support Megan and the rest of the GB team at this year's World Championships in Latvia from 4th-11th August by sending a donation and a message of support. 

The GB team get a little help from British Orienteering (entry fees and accreditation are paid for). Athletes have to fund everything else – travel and accommodation in Latvia, transport to the races and so on; in addition many have travelled in advance to Latvia to join training camps set up by other nations!

All the athletes are really proud to represent Britain and it also means a great deal to them that the wider orienteering community take an interest in their achievements so it is lovely for them to get messages of support. 

We set up ontheredline.org.uk to help make it easier to follow the British Orienteering Team as we feel this is a good way to promote orienteering as the challenging sport it is. The team performed really well at the European Championships with a bronze medal (Kris Jones) and several podium places.

We have set up a mydonate page for the team with money donated going via the charity The Orienteering Foundation. This has the benefit of including gift aid (and also for those who are in the higher tax bracket, there is the added benefit of claiming 20% back). The Orienteering Foundation report annually on the distribution of their funds.
