VHI 2013

Veteran Home International 2013 (North Norfolk)

The relays were at Kelling Heath on Sat 5th October and the individual competition, in conjunction with the ‘Norfolk Dumpling’ event, was at Sheringham Park and Weyburne Wood on Sun 6th October.

Wales came second overall and on both days!

The weather was outstandingly pleasant and the orienteering quite tough underfoot with the added element in the relays of quasi urban running due to the camping / caravan park in the middle of the area.

There were also even a few (by Welsh standards) contours, contrary to popular myth about East Anglia. In the youth hostel that the Welsh, Irish and Scots were billeted, there was no hot water but fortunately the large campsite in the middle of the relay area had 3 shower blocks to navigate to. The general consensus about the food in the hostel (the apple crumble and breakfast excepting) was that we should have partaken of the local seafood in an excellent pub in Sheringham that quite a few of us ended up in.
