Hafod

Date of event: Wed 11th Nov 2015
Level of event: Local (D)
Nearest town: Pont-rhyd-y-groes

For those who haven't been to Hafod before, then this forest is very different to most. Hafod is a historic landscape that in the 18th Century was laid out in the 'picturesque' style, which was very fashionable at the time. The overall idea (in layman terms) is to design a wild landscape with walks and viewpoints that surprise the walker. The forest has been the subject of a major restoration project over the last 25 years and the courses will visit some of the more interesting areas with restored gardens and open areas now kept clear by very hairy,  but gentle,  Highland Cattle!

Terrain The area is mainly mixed conifer and broadleaved woodland, with parkland areas, the stunning Ystwyth river and interesting path networks
