Gilwern event Sunday 16th March

On behalf of Club members many thanks indeed to “Team Smith” for yesterday’s event on Gilwern Hill Common - on the day thanks to Bev and Alastair and to Terry for the hours of work he put in Planning and Organising. The weather was kind, the scenery fantastic (we really are lucky here in Mid Wales) with generally fast underfoot conditions - although, like me, you may have found some wet boggy areas!! It all went very well apart from the one control at the end of Blue (shared with Yellow and collected in too soon) - apologies to all concerned, you were credited with that control visit though it doesn’t recompense for the time wasted looking for it perhaps.

Looking back over the year

One era passes another begins, we start the new year with a new name or should we say a new acronym. As of the 1st January 2014 we will be known as MWOC (Mid Wales Orienteering Club) and not POW, which original stood for POWys Orienteering Club . Although our website and contact details have been Mid Wales Orienteering for some time, we have always been known as POW. It was the Junior section that expressed a wish to bring the club in to 21st century and to come up with a new design for our strip to reflect our new image. It is thanks to them but especially to Joe Thomas who took on the responsibility of coming up with the new design which the club has now adopted.

This is a good time to look back over the past year and reflect on our achievements and development as a club.
