Orienteering Report March 2014

In March, the club brought home a number of prizes from the Welsh Championships, held this year on St David’s Day in Merthyr Mawr, South Wales. This area is notoriously complex terrain, a veritable lacework of paths crisscrossing numerous sand-dunes. Megan Carter-Davies won the W18 trophy for the second year in succession. Catrin Skym, a new member in the club, won the W14 class, and Hannah Thomas won the W10 age-group for the second year. Emily Thomas was third in the W16 class, whilst Gabriella Walsh was second in the W45 age-group. Harry Thomas won the M12 trophy, William Thomas was second in the M14 category, Daniel Thomas was second and Joe Thomas third in the M16 age category. Clive Thomas was third in the M45 group.

The next club event will be held in Nash Woods, near Prestiegne, on May 11th. New members are always welcome. Check the club website for details: www.mid-wales-orienteers.org.uk.
